I know a poker player who is insufferable-it’s awful to lose to the guy, because he’ll go on and on about how he read you or how he’d never play the garbage that you just bet on. It’s a travesty.
I’ve seen many poker players who feel the need to assert their superiority over people who they beat. They’ll win a hand, and then berate the other player for the hand that they played. There are a lot of things wrong with this attitude, but one of the main things is that your attitude after the hand affects how people will call you in later hands.
If people face ridicule when they lose to you, they are going to think twice about calling you, having to listen to your ranting is another incentive to fold; and if you can’t get people to call you, you aren’t going to win anything.
Make it fun for people during casino games when you win-be encouraging, empathize, and try to get people to feel good about losing to you. Don’t jump around like you just won the Super Bowl, tell them about how often you play the hand that they just played, or recount a time when you got a bad beat similar to the one that just happened.
